Having Mini Sites as a Strategy

A good strategy for having an internet business making money is having a mini site. A mini site is a good alternative to a large site with many pages. Let’s look at reasons why mini sites work.

We have all seen large online sites like Amazon or Walmart with hundreds of hundreds of wed pages to surf. There is no way I would be able to create a site that can complete with them. In order to maintain this type of site it would require a lot of time and money. There is something simpler. A mini site is the answer.

Mini sites do not target any and all things. It focuses on a niche. Target an under served niche. By doing this you can position your web site to get better rankings with search engines. With some good Search Engine Optimization (SEO) your can be getting targeted traffic. Traffic is what makes or breaks you.

I will move on to the meat if the matter. A mini site can be a one to three page web site. At most it can be five pages. It consists of a sales letter with an order form, a “thank you for buying, and a link to get the product. You can have a page to up-sell your customer. An up-sell is something like in the fast food industries; would you like fries with your order?

To build a mini site you will need a good HTML editor. The one that I use is KompoZer. This software is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) web builder software. This software is open source. Open source is free to use. There are many tutorials on the web to help you learn the software. Just go to your web browser and search on Kompozer.

When you design your mini site web page there are several design considerations to keep in mind:

  1. A Strong Header: You don’t need any graphics just a strong headline that is professional and relevant. Use the H1 font size.
  2. Fast Load Time: Some graphics will slow you site. Keep it simple.
  3. A Call to Action: Be specific in telling the reader what to do. If that action is to place an order, leave their email, or whatever, tell them.
  4. Test: Always be testing that first page. See if by changing the length of the page changes you hit rate. What about the type of font? If you change that does your hit rate change? Test everything!

Oh … one more thing! Here is a link to Mini Sites to add to your strategy.

I hope this gives you a good basic understand of Mini Sites. You can have a web site that is simple or complex. Just remember, you don’t need a monster site to have an internet business making money.
