Upload Your Site to Your Host Once you have your files created, you will need to load them to your domain. There are a few methods to loading your files to the web server. Transferring files to the web server is like moving or copying them from your computer to a CD burner, thumb drive , or any other volume you might store computer files on. The only difference is that you are sending these files through the internet. There are two kinds of file transfer, Download and Upload. Downloading is when you load files on to your computer. Uploading is when you load files to the server. Download to your PC and upload to a server. You can upload files with a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) application, a web browser, or the web design package you may be using. You can download files with a FTP application or your web browser. Most web sites are uploaded by means of a FTP program. Some HTML editors , like Microsoft FrontPage, does not require a FTP program because it has its own FTP program built in. Some other HTML editors require the use of a FTP program. There are many free FTP programs you can download. Try http://www.sourceforge.net/ and search for FTP. Most users of a FTP applications find it the most efficient and fastest way to manage the file structure on their web site.
